Pass Blower Door Tests with Confidence

AeroBarrier® Guarantees Results

Failing a blower door test isn’t an option when delays, failed inspections, and lost incentives are on the line. AeroBarrier by Aeroseal guarantees your project meets and exceeds airtightness requirements the first time.

No guesswork. No rework. Just results.

How AeroBarrier Works

AeroBarrier uses a controlled, pressurized process to distribute an atomized, nontoxic sealant throughout the space. As air naturally escapes through leaks, the airborne sealant particles follow the flow, bonding to the edges of gaps and closing them in real time.

The system continuously monitors progress and provides a verified sealing report, ensuring airtightness meets or exceeds requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what stage of construction is AeroBarrier applied?

AeroBarrier can be applied anytime from rough-in to pre-occupancy, with rough-in or post-drywall being ideal. Installation timing depends on the build process and climate zone.

Is the sealant safe? What is it made of?

It’s a water-soluble, ultra-low VOC sealant that requires no chemical reaction to form a seal, ensuring no off-gassing or release of harmful chemicals into building envelopes.

How long does it take to apply?

The AeroBarrier process takes about 4 hours for a typical home, with more time needed for Passive House or ZERH-level sealing. Work can resume inside the home as soon as 30min after the seal, minimizing disruption to other trades.

How long does it last?

Third-party testing shows AeroBarrier remains durable after a simulated 50-year test with minimal seal degradation.

What size leaks does it seal?

AeroBarrier seals gaps from ½” to the size of a human hair, effectively closing tiny, hard-to-reach leaks that manual sealing often misses.

How is the air leakage measured?

The AeroBarrier system uses a calibrated blower door to measure envelope leakage, meeting ASTM Standard E779, E1554, CGSB-149.10-M86, EN 13829, ATTMA Technical Standard 1, NFPA 2001, RESNET and USACE.

Can it be applied in cold weather?

The AeroBarrier process requires temperature control and pressurization. Ideal conditions are ≥40˚F, but sealing below that may need extra preparation.

Do I need to protect any surfaces? What happens if it gets onto something accidentally?

At rough-in or post-drywall, minimal prep is needed. Walls and windows stay uncovered, while ducts, electrical, and plumbing openings must be sealed, and finished surfaces protected. AeroBarrier can be cleaned with a citrus-based cleaner if done promptly.
